“All Wrapped Up gave me back my family”

Marybeth’s passion towards giving stemmed from the loss of her son, Daniel.

When Daniel passed away Marybeth yearned for a family to fill the void he left in her life.  During the holidays, what was once a time of joy and celebration, became one of isolation and sadness. Marybeth knew she needed a change and a new form of support and found the perfect match with Bergen Volunteers' holiday giving program, All Wrapped Up.

Marybeth has worked with the All Wrapped Up program for sixteen years. She now serves 28 families each year. She’s grown incredibly close with her families, offering support year round.

Every October she registers library cards for the youngest family member and helps teach the children how to read. She hosts an annual Thanksgiving dinner that concludes with giving each family a Christmas tree.

Through Bergen Volunteers’ All Wrapped Up program, Marybeth found purpose and a way to honor her son while connecting with others.  Bergen Volunteers provides holiday spirit for both those receiving gifts and those like Marybeth, who find joy in giving gifts.
